Quality recycled goods seek new home.

A building at the tip where items which are useable, still have a potential for life, could be set aside for the public to rescue by making a donation. The monies obtained can then be donated to a 'voted for' charitable cause or be made available to other recycling related community projects (schools, nurseries, youth projects etc) encouraging others to recycle. Upcycling furniture is now trendy, I have used recycled items for art & crafts materials, to create new items, with adults with disabilities in a day centre. Perhaps people would be willing to volunteer (as they do in charity shops) to run the 'recycle shed' rather than using an SBC paid worker.

Why the contribution is important

It saves & brings life back to goods which would otherwise end up in the landfill. It would benefit those less able to buy new goods or who enjoy upcycling as a hobby (or small business) It would generate funds to fund other recycling projects creating awareness & encouraging more people to recycle.

Great idea, there are a lot of goods thrown into the skips that are in perfectly useable condition or could be repaired and given to someone in need but once it is in the skip its is council property and it is theft to remove any of it. Would make more sense if the council let people take stuff away and recycle/up cycle it.
