Essentials, Needs and Wants

Any budget has to go by priorities. Welfare, Education and Roads  top my list. Perhaps the shortage of teaching staff supply could be supplemented by registered teachers working in the office. keeping one's hand in enhances experience!! Obviously an eye should be kept on efficiency and expenses within the organisation which can become so big and unwealdy that it eventually collapses. Information should be carefully checked and accurate for example!!

Specifically "glamour projects" should be carefully costed. Beautiful offices at the Interface are lying empty - what about considering housing the Tapestry there. It is already manned, has toilets and cafe.

Why the contribution is important

I am sure it is not any more important than any other, but I have always have to be careful with money, and have always paid my dues to council and country so feel that I have the right to request the taxpayers' money is useed responsibly.

The previous suggestion of placing the "Tapestry" in the unused floor of the new "Interchange" definitely has its merits. It utilises an unused property, is available to railway visitors, is in the centre of Galashiels and has both Café and Toilet facilities on tap so to speak. The financial savings can be better utilised.

The heading says it all - Essentials, Needs and Wants. There's a lot more cost saving to come, and it isn't going to be pretty. I suspect even Essentials will be cut to the bone. Expenditure on Nice-to-Haves rather than Must-Haves needs to be stopped now.
