This is sensible and a good investment.

I disagree that it's a good investment. Solar power isn't a stand-alone product and isn't financially viable without the support of the FIT which drops to practically nothing in January because of tory cuts. Perhaps if we had a government that supported renewables instead of numerous reactors at Hinkley Point (and the future ones in Essex) that are set to quadruple our electricity bills to fund fund them it would be a good idea. However, we have to wait for a change of government or constitution to make solar on property viable again.

I would like to see better placement of solar panels. Permission should never, in my opinion, be given for panels on farmland. Car parks are an excellent place for them: shade the cars in summer and the panels are no more unsightly than the car park. What about building a multi storey car park at the BGH and having panels on the roof? I would have thought people would be happy to pay a modest parking fee (emphasis on modest) to avoid driving round and round and walking hundreds of yards.

Solar panels on all suitable roofs. There should be subsidised production of panels rather than the bribe of the F.I.T.

I watched the Hawick Community Hospital being built and the amount of excavation which was done was huge. This was a great opportunity to lay a ground heat source system, but of course, it was not done, neither are there solar panels on the large roof space.

I agree the panels should not be housed in fields as a huge installation, perhaps only for provision for supply for the farm building if there is no suitable roof.
